Merril Jessop is a high-ranking member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS), a polygamist sect located primarily in the western United States. He served as the bishop of the FLDS community in Eldorado, Texas before being removed from this position in 2012.
Jessop has been known to be a controversial figure within the FLDS community, as he has been accused of facilitating and participating in underage marriages. In 2008, he was indicted on charges of sexual assault and bigamy, but these charges were eventually dropped.
Despite facing legal troubles and being removed from his leadership position in the church, Jessop remains a prominent figure within the FLDS community and continues to practice polygamy.
